Wiggly Kids + Nonverbal Breakthroughs: This Week's Encouragement
Hi friend!
I hope this finds you taking a deep breath and remembering that you are exactly the mother your children need. I'll be honest - I haven't been as consistent with these newsletters as I'd like, but I have been keeping up with publishing episodes! If you've missed any, be sure to check out the show page to catch up on all the encouragement and resources I've been sharing.
Recently, I had the privilege of speaking with two incredible women whose stories remind us that God's design for our children - and for us as their mothers - goes far deeper than academic achievements or developmental milestones.
Episode 30: The Homeschool OT with Tiffany Parsons
Are you watching your child struggle to sit still, wondering if something deeper is going on? Tiffany Parsons, an occupational therapist and pastor's wife, reveals how primitive reflexes and body awareness might be the missing piece to your child's focus challenges. She shares practical strategies for helping wiggly kids regulate naturally, and reminds us that sometimes what looks like hyperactivity is actually a child's body seeking what it needs to feel grounded.
Key Takeaway: "If we can increase their body awareness, then they don't need to be moving around so much and they have the ability to sit and focus and take in the information."
EP 30: Why Your Child's ADHD or Behavioral Symptoms Might Actually Be Unintegrated Reflexes (And What Exhausted Christian Moms Can Do)
Episode 31: The ELARP Method with Stephanie Buckwalter
After 20 years of homeschooling five children with varying abilities, Stephanie hit rock bottom with her nonverbal daughter in sixth grade. Her desperate search for answers led her to Genesis 2, where she discovered that all children - regardless of their abilities - are created for the same three purposes: independence, social connection, and productivity. Her ELARP method provides a biblical framework for educating any child, especially those who seem "stuck" academically.
Key Takeaway: "God's not surprised and He actually put you with this child. He has equipped you, even if you haven't located that equipment yet."
EP 31: Stop Accepting 'Perpetual Elementary School' - How This Mom Cracked the Code for Severe Learning Struggles
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:13-14
Both guests reminded us that God is not surprised by your child's struggles, sensory needs, or learning differences. Stephanie's discovery in Genesis 2 revealed that every human being shares the same divine purpose: to connect with others, be productive in their unique way, and grow in independence.
Your child's brain, exactly as it is today, was knit together by the same God who hung the stars in place. Their sensory needs, their processing differences, their unique way of learning - none of this caught God off guard. He equipped you specifically to be their mother, their advocate, their first teacher.
Prayer for This Week
Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You are not surprised by our children's needs, and that You have equipped us to be exactly the mothers they need. Help us see our children through Your eyes - fearfully and wonderfully made, created for relationship, productivity, and independence in their own unique ways.
When we're carrying rejection that isn't ours to bear, help us lay it at the foot of the cross. When we're exhausted, remind us that You are enough when we are not. Guide us as we support our children's growth, and help us move from survival mode to thriving in Your strength.
Both episodes are available now on all podcast platforms. Don't forget to join our Facebook group. where you can share your wins, ask questions, and connect with other mamas walking this journey together.
