Trauma-Informed Parenting:

How to Move from Triggered to Thriving Using Faith-Based Strategies For Special Needs Parents

Hi friend!

I hope this message finds you taking a deep breath and remembering that you are so loved by your Heavenly Father.

This Week's Episode Highlight

I just had the most incredible conversation with Debbie Simmons - a mama who lost quadruplets, adopted nine children with trauma backgrounds, and discovered the life-changing power of asking better questions in our darkest moments.

Here's what struck me most: When we're in crisis (whether it's our child melting down in Target or facing a devastating loss), our natural response is to ask "Why?" But Debbie learned something profound in her hospital room that night - "Why?" is a stuck question that keeps us trapped, while "How do I survive this?" opens the door for God to meet us.

Her simple "BEST" strategy has revolutionized how thousands of families navigate trauma, meltdowns, and everyday challenges. And mama, if you've ever felt triggered by your child's behavior, this episode will give you tools to recognize your "shark waters" and respond from love instead of your own wounds.

๐Ÿ“– This Week's Devotional:

"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing." - Zephaniah 3:17

Reflection

Mama, in your hardest parenting moments - when your child is screaming, when you feel overwhelmed, when you're questioning everything - remember this truth: God delights in you. Not in your perfect responses or your ability to handle everything gracefully, but in YOU.

Just as Debbie learned to ask "How do I survive?" instead of "Why me?", we can shift our focus from understanding every struggle to simply taking the next faithful step. When we breathe deeply (literally - through our nose to activate that parasympathetic nervous system!), evaluate the facts, step back for perspective, and take one small action in faith, God promises to light up the path at our feet.

Prayer

Father, thank You that even in our most overwhelming moments, You are writing a good story with our lives and our children's lives. Help us to release the "why" questions that keep us stuck and instead ask "How do I love well in this moment?" Give us wisdom to see beyond our children's behavior to their hearts, and heal the wounded places in us that get triggered. We trust You to show us the next step. In Jesus' name, Amen.

๐ŸŒฟ Wellness Corner: Building Your Foundation

As Debbie shared, we cannot give our children the best version of ourselves if we're not taking care of our own foundational health. Just like the BEST strategy starts with breathing, true wellness starts with the basics.

I've learned that the Wellness Pyramid approach - just like Debbie's method of taking one next best step - shows us that lasting wellness doesn't come from one dramatic change, but from building a solid foundation daily.

The Foundational Wellness Bundle supports the base of your wellness pyramid with three essential components:

  • VMG+: Fills nutritional gaps and may boost energy levels (because exhausted mamas need all the support we can get!)
  • EO Mega+: Supports brain health and cognitive function (essential for those quick parenting decisions!)
  • doTERRA PB Restore: Supports digestive health and gut barrier integrity (when your gut is happy, you're better equipped to handle life's challenges)

When you're caring for a child with special needs, your body is constantly managing stress. These foundational supplements help ensure you're building from a place of strength, not depletion.

Ready to take your next best step toward foundational wellness? Message me to learn more about how the Foundational Wellness Bundle can support your journey.
